This Dove Campaign primarily focusses on the different perceptions of beauty that exist in relation to oneself and others. They make it clear that their target audience is women. Research conducted by Dove showed that only 4% of the women around the world perceive themselves as beautiful. This ad shows how women are critical of their own looks while being appreciative and positive about others in terms of physicality. While describing themselves, they lean more towards negative descriptions and highlight their flaws, but while describing someone else they use synonyms of beautiful, which they would not ordinarily do for their own self. This campaign brings ones attention to the immense amount of pressure women are under to look presentable and beautiful, not only for those around them, but also for themselves. The message in the ad drives home a positive message and encourages women to appreciate themselves. In today’s day and age, this message should be heard loud and clear, when women should appreciate their natural beauty and not constantly be shadowed by the non-existent image of how they perceive their looks.
